LSU, Alabama or Arkansas to hire Stansbury?

Coach will probably say yes just to be obstinate, but I can't believe that would be an honest answer.

If Stansbury were to leave/be fired, would any sane State fan want to hire Gottfried, Brady, Heath, or Pelphrey since they are supposedly better than Rick?

it was a level of effort thing. kodi was lazy, not playing defense, and not playing team ball. stans knows how talented the guy is (he is the one that offered him the scholly after all - or was that you Ex-C34?). he had to do the same thing with Rhodes and Walter Sharpe early in their careers too. with Rhodes, it took, with WS, not so much. it looks like it took with Kodi too, and now stans has nothing but good things to say about him.

First of all, Arkansas fans are delusional. That must be noted before discussing this topic.

Heath had a bad run at Arkansas and failed to win with talented upperclassmen. They basically got into the Tourney twice (I think) on their performance in the SECT. Now we have done that once, but when you have the facilities, tradition, fanbase of Arkansas and talented upperclassmen, that shouldn't happen. The, when they go there they lost. I agree with DAA, they got rid of Heath too early, again Arky being delusional, but there is no way he would be there today had they hung onto him for an extra year. He wasn't going to cut it. Put him at State and I would hate to see the record he put up.

Brady was not a good coach. When Louisiana superstars fell into his lap, he did well. When that didn't happen, he didn't do a thing. Again, put him at State and he would have a horrendous record.

Now, take Stansbury and put him at Arkansas and LSU and he...

It is quite possible that Stansbury sitting Kodi down last season actually made Kodi realize he needed to be more of a team player and that actually made him a much better player. It may have helped him get motivated to work out and get in great shape in the off season like he did. Kodi may still be the little shit ass pussy that he was when he first got here if Stans did not give him a wake up call. Or it didn't matter. Who knows. But at least you need to consider that Stans sitting Kodi last year may have actually helped him.

...when he got 3 or 4 terrific players from Baton Rouge and another from not too far away in Louisiana. Not very often a coach has that much talent available from the same town/area as the university. Those local boys took them to the Final Four.

Since you believe LSU and Arkansas hold their basketball coaches to a higher standard than we do, do you think they would have fired Stansbury by now since he hasn't advanced past the second round? Or is multiple division titles, 6 out of 8 tournament appearances, 2 tournament titles, and 1 overall title good enough at those schools to keep a coach with that pedigree around?

benching kodi early in the season was the wrong decision. the lineup stans used early in the year made us the better team and gave us a greater chance to win.

I live in UPig country and I have serious doubts about Pelphry being around next year. There were about 2000 folks at the first exhibition game. In a gym that holds nearly 20,000, it looked really empty. I also know at least one major advertising sponsor that, as a result of the rape/suspensions, has told the university to pull all his advertising and cash flow that goes with it from the basketball program. Lack of $ coming in will make a coach disappear.

First you say Heath was fired FOR losing early in the tournament. Then you say he was fired IN A YEAR IN WHICH he made the tournament.

Big difference.

Heath was fired because he was getting blown out in SEC games and the program was headed in the tank.... NCAA appearance be damned.

Arkansas has such high standards that they won't fire a coach until he has 4 losing SEC records in 5 years. Stansbury would be fired for 4 straight years of losing SEC records. I don't think anyone on this...

Heath was fired for only having a winning record in conference 1 out of his 5 seasons...When Stansbury strings together 5 years comparable to Heath's 5 at arkansas, I'll join you in calling for his job.

Meanwhile, although the tournament success hasn't happened yet, we are a consistent winner, even when stars leave, we still win.

When we do finally get that elusive Sweet 16, will Coach shut up and admit he was wrong, or will he start bitching about Elite 8's? I'm sure we all know the answer to that. He just has a hard-on for pissing on - by far - the most successful coach at State since the bygone days of Ron Polk I.

5 players suspended. Walsh and Fortson out indefinitely. I have a feeling that Pelphrey may be done unless he makes the NCAAs. Poor perfromance on the court and problems off the court are not a good combination.
