That score says it all for me.

My Dad and I were listening to the game on the radio. I'll go ahead and admit that I am 3 years past the age of 40. I still feel 25 , but I guess that
makes me an old guy on this board.

Anyway , I remember the score being 3-3 at halftime and Our feeling was like most , that Bama would find a way to win the game. I was 14 and already a huge
fan of MSU as my dad has raised me to be. The thing is , I did not realize how huge it was to beat Bama back in those days. I knew We were not suppossed to win
, but I didn't know it was as big as it was until I saw the headlines the next day. They probably wouldn't be much bigger if Crist returned.

I still remember my Dad grabbing me by my shoulders and shaking me so hard that if I had been a quart of milk He would have churned me into butter. As He
did , He shouted as loud as I have ever heard his voice " I have been waiting for this one all of my life!"...

My wife and I went to the game along with a friend who is currently a Judge in South Mississippi. I will protect his identity. This is the only time I have
been there to a game. I too had too much to drink. Got upset a bit by the shellacking we were taking and tired of the Bama fans. Kinda went overboard...am
embarresed to think about it now....but I did get in their face.

The following week the Reflector had an editorial about how rowdy the Dawg fans were...we really rang those bells...and were really vocal. They mentioned ther
was one who was way out of bounds. I always thought it was me.

Would not do it again...but I would love to have something to crow about tomorrow night. Most of their fans are pissing alumni who never went to school there
....or yankees who want to be a part of the Southern party experience.
Most Alabama people go to Auburn. Ole Miss has that same drawing...punks from out of Mississippi who want to party...and dream that they...

parachuter nearly dying and some Bama band member that fell in a hole on the sideline after halftime, which delayed the start of the second half too. We win
and watch the goalposts come down, so now me and the family are ready to head that way. Some nice event guy had already opened the gate onto the field so we
all kindly walked out there to see our drummers going nuts at midfield with some great beats to keep everybody still there dancing and then a drunk guy (who
was dancing) began to moon the 20 or 30 of us standing there. But I saved the best for last. As were are FINALLY leaving the stadium heading back to the car,
we pass the Bama cheerleader van and the majority of them were squalling (we all know that's a totally different type of crying, and yes that included the
males). Great times.

and we are all celebrating watching everyone spill out onto the field. We yell and scream for awhile, watch the goal posts come down and stagger out to the
vehicle.

We get all the way back to the apartment before we realize we left our friend, who was not from Starkville, at the game. We had no idea where he was. A couple
of hours later he comes back and says, "get your truck". We load up and he directs us to drive to that big white house by the bridge near campus.

Apparently he had gone down to the field and was one of the guys carrying around a goalpost. He says it was him and a FIJI that were the last two holding the

I stormed the field with everyone else as a freshman, and managed to snag an endzone pylon. Afterwards, I was the Reflector writer picked to interview LT. He
was more than friendly, and his biggest worry was about getting new goalposts installed in time for the next home game. I did ask if the win was worth the
cost of the damage, and he said he'd take the win again in a heartbeat. I offered to return the endzone pylon if they needed it, but he told me to keep
it. One of the highpoints of my opinion of the guy....it would be a few years before that started to slide. Next issue, I found out my work had been used in
a joint article for the front page. Highlight of my brief journalistic career. Still got it framed somewhere.

I had just graduated with a EE degree in May of 1980 and joined a Silicon Valley high tech firm. I was in Palo Alto, CA on the day of the MSU / Bama game
(attending an internal training class) and a local co-worker of mine invited me to a game at Stanford University. I had the opportunity to see John Elway
versus Oregon State that day. The attendance was so-so and my buddy kept telling me about how great their halftime band show would be... I was thinking,
"Halftime show? Pac-10 football is a joke, but that Elway could sure sling the football".

My buddy had just graduated from Princeton, so he kept ragging me about going to MSU.

The biggest cheers of the day occured when they announced the Mississippi State / Alabama score. They announced it early and often and the crowd roared when
it was a final...
