I'm ALL for this: New Las Vegas bowl game would feature SEC vs Pac 12

Count me in if State ever plays in it.

It would be the only bowl that by default puts the SEC vs. PAC-12. Never understood why that hasn't happened before, given all the other mash-ups.

Geography. Harder to put butts in seats from both sides if the distance is too far for fans to travel.

This is good! Cheap non-stops from Austin and the excuse of a football game.

He seemed to find his way to Jacksonville (close to Gainsville) back in late December, and also made recruiting trips to central Florida. Things got out from those trips apparently. But remember, What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, so nobody would ever know, right?****

    Glad to see it added

The bowl season is in big need of some variety. The same trips and conference matchups are obviously repetitive. A trip to Vegas and a game against a team from the Pac 12 will be a welcomed change.

I would like to see the SEC make a push for the game in Yankee Stadium.

So is this in addition to the slate of SEC bowl games or did one of the other bowls get taken out of the rotation?

Not if you have some in Texas do the hosting. Or, make the Hawaii bowl really interesting. These days, the geography argument doesn't hold as much water. The Big10 goes to the Rose Bowl and Holiday Bowl every year, plus some of the Texas bowls to play the PAC-12.

Looks like details haven't been worked out yet, but I would assume a bowl will get pushed out of the rotation.

Being in Vegas helps as I'm sure they feel good about selling plenty of tickets to folks there to do some gambling as well. They won't be as reliant on pulling fans from the SEC just for the game.

Hopefully Birmingham but Independence is lowest on the totem pole.

Frontier might very well have non-stops from here by that time too.

I thought the Birmingham Bowl was the lowest of the low.

Are you kidding? The Birmingham Bowl is where miracle recruiting classes are born.--Ok Jesus gets some credit, but still.

I like the fact that the tie in is with the PAC 12.

Good point but remember the bowl games are also driven by local fans in the vicinity of the game. Sure, only so many people can afford to go to a Las Vegas venue due to distance and costs but if the product is quality, people from Los Angeles and San Diego will gladly go to Las Vegas to watch a great match up to add to the casino experience. Many generic college football fans out west do not get an opportunity to watch a SEC team and the culture it brings. If the games are scheduled for the fans and not ESPN, it could be great. In other words, if the game is on Friday and not Saturday, it is not fan friendly and not accessible to the working population who will not take time of work.
