Race fans: Danica Patrick and Dale Jr. close to a deal... |

that would bring Patrick to NASCAR part time. Apparently she'd be racing Nationwide or in the truck series for Jr. Motorsports.

She won't be successful and won't last very long. Stock cars are much heavier a more difficult to steer than open wheel cars. She's tiny even for a
woman. She just won't have the upper body strength to keep a stock on on the line she wants for an entire race. She's also shown she has a temper with
other drivers that bump into her. NASCAR is totally different from IRL in that respect. She'll get slammed into like never before (insert Jr. jokes here).
I don't think she'll handle the car or the style of driving very well.

Reminds me of Jr's days in the Bud 8 car. "Dale Jr. this bud is not for you."

Speaking of racing... | #13 | ||

Was walking down the pits at Talladega on Sunday, wearing my State cap, when a man in a M&M's racing suit stops me. Tells me he graduated from State in
engineering, and now works with the race team "doing data collection." Seems like a cool enough job. Just a shame he has to work on Lil'
Bush's team.

memphodawg wrote: That's a total farce. Stock cars are heavier, don't handle as well, have manual shifters instead of paddle shifters, don't corner as well, the driver is off-center, have less grip on the tires, don't have near the down force, etc etc. It's common racing knowledge that stock cars are much more difficult to drive than open wheeled cars.

therightway wrote: Tony grew up racing on dirt tracks and such. Therefore, the adjustment wasn't as severe. Juan Pablo has done extremely well, but had a learning curve. His raw talent is far superior to Danica Patrick's. Franchitti, Villaneuve, etc. were clueless. Hornish has struggled. Danica will be great for attendance and exposure. She will have great equipment, but will struggle. Also, remember you don't get many fields of 43 in Indy Car. It does take stamina and strength to drive a cup car. A common theory around the garage is that Dale Jr. needs to improve his fitness. He physically tires in the last half of the races, leading to mistakes. |

there were two or three guys from MS on the Labonte team for a while. One of them used to drive here at Jackson International...and one of the others was from
Brandon I think. Ran into a woman in Jackson who's son was one of those guys.
