This is ridiculous
You'd think with all of the TV $$$ flying into the conference's coffers that they could afford a Vizio or 2 for the replay guy to watch on. This is some LT-type bullshit

SEC Officials viewing replays on SD analog sets... |

That's pretty bad. Prices have dropped so much... | #1
|
that places like Sam's are probably a step away from selling them in blister-packs of two or more. Surely the SEC could afford 12 of 'em.

My jaw continues to drop at how big an idiot Rogers Redding is... | #2
|
this is his latest from the article:
And the only thing worse than that is that the director of SEC officiating, Rogers Redding, doesn't think it would make much of a difference to have HD television. In fact, he wouldn't oppose making the change, but he won't fight for it either. "The way I view [officiating] is, if this isn't broke, let's not fix it," he told the Birmingham News. "I don't see any sort of emergency, oh my God, we've got to fix someĀthing here." Tells you a lot when the director of officiating doesn't really seem to care if the correct calls on the field are being made or not. Thank goodness we actually have the light of the national spotlight finally shining on the good-ol-boy network that is and always has been SEC officiating. The ONLY way we are going to get anything ever improved in terms of fairness in this league is by continued criticism by the outside media finally looking in on whats been going on forever. |

He continues to make a complete ass of himself. Obviously an old fart ... | #3
Do you really expect this old MFer to be in favor of upgraded technology? I guaran-damn-tee you he has no cell phone, no e-mail address, and still refers to photocopies as mimeographs. |

Chalk up at least one good reason... | #4

to have a mandatory retirement age. Somebody get that old geezer out of here.

With officiating I agree on a retirement age. | #6
|
That, or I think the officials should undergo sight and reflex tests once they get past a certain age to make sure they still have their faculties about them.
If they can't pass those tests, they would need to be forced into retirement.
I sincerely believe a lot of the problem with the replays is the fact that these guys just can't see to make the right call either because of poor technology or old age. |

You misunderstood him. From his point of view, it's not broke. | #7

SEC officiating is functioning exactly the way it's intended to function.

Mr Meoff |
This reminds me - does anyone have the video of the long TD pass to O'Neal Wilder against KY? | #8
|
I just knew when the ball was in the air, that the ref was going to fall down and tackle Wilder... But somehow, the geezer waddled out of the way in the nick
of time.
I was quite impressed the old bastard was able to avoid being hit, even though he did resemble Babe Ruth rounding the bases after a homerun in those old sped-up films. |

Redding: But I don't see this particular play, even though it's generated a lot of fan and media
hit, as anything out of the ordiĀnary at all.
He's correct - that call was quite ordinary for the SEC. This guy sounds like more of a dumbass every time he opens his mouth.
Give Russell a chance.

What HD format do their cameras shoot in? | #12
|
Do they shoot with 1080p and downconvert it for the broadcast? If so, they may be able to get an even better view than what you see on TV. That is if they
wanted to.

...and Ole Miss had a chance to beat Auburn?
Come on, Bruiser. Don't run from it. Admit you were wrong. It's ok. |

Fire the whole lot of them. Call it "mandatory retirement", "reach-arounds", whatever, just get rid of those f_ckers.

This is so true, my parents have no clue about HD. | #18
|
Yep, when it comes to HD, the SEC is just like your parents.
At least if your parents are anything like mine. My dad and mom come over to help with my son on a regular basis. Sometimes, when my son takes an afternoon nap or when my wife and I head out for a movie, I return to find my dad and mom watching my HD television on the non-HD stations. Often, with my dad, he'll be watching a sporting event that is playing in glorious HD. Only he's watching it on the standard station. "You can't see the difference between these?" I'll ask. "No," he'll say, sheepishly. "Put us in at the same time, come on, man. This is Rider. We're preseason ranked No. 18 in the country. We're not supposed to lose our first game, home opener. Wow. That's crazy.........Kodi 11/13/09 |

He can't be "in his 60's", he may be 60... | #19
|
I'm friends with an SEC ref (back judge) who is in phenomenal shape for his age. He told me he turns 60 soon and the SEC is forcing him to retire at 60 so
this is his last season.
You've got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the
chips and dip coming.

You might be my brother in law. | #20

My father in law refuses to admit that there is a better picture anywhere than his 32" Sony tube from ten years ago. He scoffs at my paying for HD
service. He also buys the really cheap bacon and won't even try Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. His Kroger brand "tastes exactly the same".
