I'm always amused by the grandiose pronouncements of children. If the rivalry is only imagined on the Ole Miss side, then why do the Bayou Bungholes
persist in showing a 50 year old film clip on their jumbotron every year? Their obsession with a half century old play is almost as bad as the legion of doofi
who travel I-20 for the purpose of fellating a corpse with a houndstooth hat. In short, stupid article.

Coach34 wrote: No, they lost the Sugar Bowl. That run was in the regular season. They won that game 7-3. We beat them later that year 21-0 in the Sugar Bowl, and I want to say they didn't cross midfield or something like that. The reason they show it is because it is supposedly the run that won Cannon the Heisman that year. |

It doesn't mean Arkansas is a big rival. Just that the field goal helped us make it to Atlanta.

it's only one of the most famous plays in college football history. Other than that, nope, no idea why they show it.

That is the exact type of article that pisses off the football gods. Jonathan Brooks, you just screwed the Tigers.
Also, is that the mugshot of Coleen ("We bawlin' baby!") in the "Stay Classy Bama" pic? If not, the photo spread is incomplete. |

This rivalry trash talk | #10

Really pisses me off. There are rivalries all over the country were the series record is lopsided. Michigan has a large lead in the series with OSU. So, is it
not a rivalry now?
Also, there are very few rivalries where both schools consider each other to be the main rival. Who is Florida main rival? FSU or UGA? Who is Bama's rival? AU or UT? WHo is UTs rival? UF or Bama or Vandy? Who is Texas rival? OU or A&M? While we are it....does LSU even have a true rival? They may consider Bama because of the Saban issue. Maybe UF because of the success of each program lately. But I guarantee Bama and UF don't consider LSU a rival. So, this dude should just climb down off his high horse. It is just sophomoric journalism to try and to dismiss a school as a rival because you feel you are "better than them." |

A real rivalry isn't based on a coach, or any circumstance that can change. To me it's more about a long standing series, an instate battle (or neighboring state), location proximity, things like that. And just me personally but I think those games should be played at the end of the year. Hell if Ole Miss and LSU want to be rivals let them do it, it'll take their mind off our game the next week. You see I'm not one who analyze wins and losses and woulda shoulda coulda - if Ole Miss is down when they play us and we win, who gives a shit we kicked their ass. LSU probably thinks less of them than Ole Miss does to them, but oh well that's just due to success and Ole Miss's failures. Swap the roles and the views will likely also be reversed. They do have pretty contrasting colors and cultures, albeit mostly stereotyped. I appreciate all college football tradition and I enjoy watching this game. To me the Egg Bowl is almost like the contrasting lifestyles within Mississippi, just different. More about neighbors and such. |

It's pretty presumptuous | #13

to refer to the rivalry as an "annual thrashing" when your team was the one who was thrashed the previous year and is an underdog on the road this
weekend.
It would be one thing if this article was written circa 2007, but it wasn't. |

Look at the Texas - Texas A&M record... | #15
|
It's 74-36-5 in favor of UT. I'm pretty sure Texas considers A&M to be a huge rival. Hell, they have a sizeable advantage against Oklahoma too
(59-40-5).

while he may be right about the ignorant racists at UM, I can promise you there are just as many racist coonasses waving purple and gold confederate flags at LSU. Also, being that my hometown is very close to BR and I actually attended LSU for a year, I can tell you through extensive experience with the coons that most of them consider Ole Miss a big rival. I know alot of MSU fans hate to acknowledge it, (which is kind of pathetic), but it's true.
Woe to all MSU faithful

"You see I'm not one who analyze wins and losses and woulda shoulda coulda - If Ole Miss is down when they play us and we win, who gives a shit we

So then the argument that Ole Miss whipped ya'lls ass regardless of whether the players quit or not is NO EXCUSS. Ole Miss just whipped ya'lls lazy ass up and down the field and came away knowing MSUX was a sucky team that should have never played a down of football in the year 2008 anyway. Look, I actually like MSU........but it just peeves me the way state fans think....making up excuses that the players didn't care or that they just gave up. Football players don't just give up. They may feel defeated that the team is not playing as well as it should, but each individual player did not just give up. If ya'll kill us 50 to 0, then so be it. That is why they play the game.
