I hope Craig gets a shot at the big leagues soon, but with Wieters in Baltimore, he'll be stuck in the minors for a while... ------------------------------------------------------ O's Claim Tatum From Reds; Nix A Free Agent By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 20 at 2:33pm CST] The Orioles claimed catcher Craig Tatum off of waivers from the Cincinnati Reds, according to a team press release. The O's designated lefty Chris Waters for assignment to clear space for Tatum. The 26-year-old catcher posted a .471 OPS in 77 plate appearances with the Reds this year; a considerable dropoff from his .638 OPS in Triple A. In 2008, Baseball America named Tatum the best defensive catcher in the Reds' organization. Meanwhile, the Reds lost the rights to another player. Posts: 6909 11/20/09 05:05 PM Patdog's Baseball Guru	Craig Tatum played in the Big Leagues this year for the Reds, so he has already made it. This sucks for him. The Reds were a good organization for him. I was hoping that he could beat out Ryan Hanigan and maybe the Reds would let Carlos Hernandez go. And as you said, the Orioles have Matt Weiters. That's not to say that he won't play at all- most MLB teams play their back-up catcher fairly reguarly, but of course not as much as the starting catcher and it doesn't have the prestige. Craig has a home run, 6 RBI's, and hit .162 for the Big Red Machine this year. The most impressive stat he had was that he threw out 36% of the baserunners that tried to steal on him. http://kirkpresleysgraceland.blogspot.com/
