we would be starting the 3rd quarter already if it wasnt for the added commercials/timeouts because it is the super bowl. The damn game has been on an hour and it is almost the half...

Between ending the games at midnight and all of the sponsors getting their ads in, plus the 30 minute halftime show.
I guarantee you that the NFL made it very clear to the officials to keep the game moving. |

the clock virtually never stops in an NFL game these days. We're lucky to get a little football in between commercials.

Besides, there are no other games to keep up with this week. Games seem to slow down when you get to watch highlights from other games during play stoppages.
