View Full Version : question about the hybrid view

in the Book Titles thread, the posts are shown as most recent (in time) first. This is backwards compared to yuku. Oddly if there is a second reply (reply to the original reply), the all subsequent replies are in the proper order because they are indented and flow down.

Have I set something up incorrectly?

It's unfortunately just the way it is.

Looks like we will have to live it. This is literally the only other option out there. Threaded view is considered antiquated and no on uses it.

Topic view works real well if people would just quote what they are responding to. Or not if you are responding to the most recent post.

I know we have a ton of people that like threaded. But there is a reason that 99% of message boards are topic based.

I might be able to get to where only "Reply with Quote" is available. Just take away Reply. If people want to take out the quote - they can just delete it.

I like the threaded view bc a lot of times, you can read most of the board simply by scrolling the forum page and reading the post titles. Plus you can tell where the conversation has gone to see if you want to read.

Bottom left of the page - change to Topic View from Threaded View.

What does hybrid view do?

If you are using threaded, hybrid makes it like Yuku where if you click on a post in the tree - you can read replies that are under that reply.

It's really going to be huge for people to reply correctly since people are going to have the option of threaded or flat.

Reply with quote should be the only ption in topic view

Hat - make sure you click reply to the post you want to reply to.

Do you not see how to reply? IF you want to reply to this post - click reply where it's circled. If that's what you are doing - then we have a problem.

Can you take the quick reply off of the bottom of the screen and kind of force people to reply to threads?

Not really b/c then there won't be quick reply box that "appears" when you click reply or reply with quote. It would load a whole new window.

We have quick reply on Yuku and most know not to use it. So hopefully that will transfer to here.

Sweet - nevermind Hat. Now I got it working where a click is required to use quick reply. The quick reply box doesn't appear automatically. Awesome!

Hatfield - let me know how it works for you.
