Actually, a little blonde peach from Jawga is on my mind, but we're here to talk football.

It's flaps up again for Saddawg 1 tomorrow morning. Be in the Vegas around 3 tomorrow if all goes to plan. No camping at Eckie's this week, I'll be Coo-Chee loaded. Two newcomers with me, should be fun showing them around, even if one is the afore mentioned Peach wearing the wrong Dawg colors.

Prediction time......

I really want to say we win. This is the game. It's time.

Time to shine. Time to set up a bowl. Time to get it going where I really think it's going.

Only problem is, every time I think this way, State fooks it all up.

If I weren't a State fan I would say State 27- UGA 24.

But alas, I was cursed with the best old Grandpa a boy ever had who's one failing in life was to make me into a die hard boy from "Good Ole MSU." (Anybody got a copy of that song?)

I, by all rights, should have been a Texas fan.

But I loved ole Grand Pap more than anything and he loved State more than anything but me.

So here I am. A State fan.

And, as a State fan, I know the Dawgs from "Good Ole MSU" (seriously does anybody have a copy of that song?), will kick me in the nuts again.

So, as a State fan I say UGA 24- State 10

I agree with your assertion that it's time for State to shine and step up. I have been catching a bit of flack up here in Tupelo for saying the same thing on the Brad Locke blog. I am not down on State by questioning their mediocre play up to this point. Can't a fan question a team without being labeled "Debbie Downer" or a pessimist. Hell, give me something to brag on you for and I'll sing your praises until you're tired of hearing it. But in the same vein, when you are below average or uninspired I will clown you. Goes both ways. I contend that we have won a game we should have and lost one we were supposed to lose, but could have won if a couple of players made some very average plays. Then we lost another we were supposed to lose and always do lose. It's like a rite of passage that we lose to LSU. So we really haven't done anything we weren't supposed to do. We have lived up or down to expectations, however you would like to view it. Now that being said, I don't feel as though I am dogging the team or down on them. I think just like you though. It's time to step your game up, have some pride and win a game we maybe shouldn't win or wouldn't have won in the past. I hear the excuses of Mullen's second year, talent, depth... etc. Got it. I am well aware of our shortcomings. But like a great man I knew told me on many occasions... Excuses are the crutches of the weak, and only for those who need them. Let's play some ball and we won't need excuses. I won't be able to make the trip this week but I will lift a really heavy bottomed glass of George W. Dickel in your honor, Sad. Pull us through. Good luck with the coochees or the peaches...or both.

Nice to see some guys step up and make a play. Arceto Clark comes to mind. After the interception against LSU, Mullen asked him what happened. He told Mullen that the DB bumped him and then went over the top and picked it off. Mullen told Clark that maybe he should have bumped the DB and gone up and gotten it himself. The DB simply wanted the ball more. Period.

Against Georgia, Arceto Clark went up and got the ball like he owned it for a touchdown. The plays are there. You either make them or you don't. We didn't make them against LSU and we certainly didn't make them against Auburn.

I'm hoping we can beat Alcorn and Houston (without Keenum). That puts us at 4-2. A split with Florida and UAB would put us at 5-3. Kentucky will be important. They're asolid team but we should be favored. It's a must win. Bama will be a loss. Arkansas and Mallettcan roll-up yards and points, but their defense isn't impressive. We can beat Ole Miss in Oxford.

On another note, I'll vouch for Trice drinking some brown liquor during these games (he's my brother-in-law).

Well I'll be damn. I was reading this and nodding my head and agreeing with just about everything you were posting and then come to find out you are my own bro in law. I knew my sis did alright when she married you. Good job. Well, I gave us a bit of grief for not making plays before this game so I will gladly give our boys an atta boy when we do good. We weren't perfect, but I don't expect perfection. I expect to make routine plays and even a tough play every now and then. We did that this game and I was proud. The prouder I got, the easier the brown went down...and I got pretty proud. Know it. Good job dawgs. Keep up the good work.

Why don't you run that idea up the flagpole to ole Bumpy? I am anxious to hear her response...and your battle scars. Just be sure you are not up here in Tupelo when you do it. I think it would be best to try that at home.
