And if either State or OM happens to beat them, it won't be a signature win.

    2007 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Nick Saban is a very good coach. However, he isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread. He didn't have a great season at LSU until he won his national championship. He built up LSU because he was able to keep all the great talent in-state and cherrypick from the States that bordered Louisiana. In Alabama, he'll be the second-best program, just like he was at Michigan State.

Also, he returns the same team that had their asses kicked by Croom. I'm not saying we'll win again (as a matter of fact, they'll probably play their best game against us), but it still takes alot to lose to a Croom-coached football team.

I could see Bammer losing to Houston while beating Tennessee.

6-6 (4-4). That is giving them wins over MSU and UM. Not sure that will really happen on the road.

Just some FYI, Saban went 8-4 his first year at LSU, a team that had lost 13 SEC games the 2 previous seasons. He won the SEC the 2nd and 4th years. Won the NC on the 4th year. While I don't think 8-4 is great, it's definitely not bad.... especially for his first year. Equating Alabama to Michigan State is a stretch at best. I know we've fallen with probation and coaching problems, but we're no Michigan State and Auburn's no Michigan. He landed a top 10 class in 4 weeks this year and e're already leading for almost every player in the state in the most talented upcoming senior class in 20 years and Auburn is leading for ZERO of the top 15. We're not going to have instant credibility, but we'll be back in the top of the West within 3 years. I think we'll finish somewhere between 7-5 (not so much luck) and 9-3 (with a little luck).

Tubby owns Bama and will continue to do so. I know your blind hatred of AU probably gets in the way but he is one of the best 3 coaches in the country.

They will be fine.....Bama will screw something up. It is guaranteed. Something will go wrong.

I think Tuberville is a great coach. But he's not even top 4 in the SEC (Meyer, Spurrier, Fulmer, and Saban accomplished more and much faster). He's been on the verge of being fired twice at Auburn and hired some fine coordinators that saved him (most recently Al Borges after Petrinogate). He did a wonderful job of capitalizing on Alabama's probation and scholarship limitations and I think Auburn will continue to be very good. But they got good from good recruiting during our crisis and to stay good they'll have to continue to recruit at that kind of level. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a good team...... every perennial powerhouse recruits lights out every year. This next year will tell us a lot in reference to his ability maintain a strong recruiting foothold in the state.

from what I remember, DiNardo had like two top 5 classes.

    Preseason Prognosticators - Week 9

They had some good classes at LSU, but they were very similar to the two consecutive Top 3 classes Mike Dubose had...... a large portion either didn't qualify or quit within 2 years.

then he has at Bama and only went 8-4 with a weaker schedule. 7-5 or 8-4 is about as good as ya'll will do this year. This isn't a shot at Saban at all, just being realistic.

The team that Saban inherited had Rohan Davey, Josh Reed, Trev Faulk, Bradie James, LaBrandon Toefield, etc on it. Dinardo was a shitty coach at the end but he left Saban a good starting point.

About Auburn, Alabama is pretty much always going to lead for recruits in-state. Where Tubberville cleans up is in out of state recruiting and getting a few away from Bama here and there. It is going to be fun watching him battle Saban, two great coaches going head to head in the same state. One thing to remember here - Tubbs more than held his own when Saban was at LSU. It's not going to be a one-horse race in a few years, it's going to be a tough head to head matchup every year.

that was when he was up against bama's pathetic coaching carosel; will be much harder to dominate recruiting and wasn't last year supposed to be a down year for bama w/ this year supposed to be pretty good-thought i read that a lot when people talked about how unfair is was to fire shula?

7-5, maybe 8-4 with better luck

Saban has already drastically changed the team attitude in Tuscaloosa. There won't be anymore sputtering out at the start of the fourth quarter and the offense will be scoring touchdowns, not field goals.

It took an ass whipping by Croom to make Mal Moore realize how shitty a head coach Shula really was. Bama will be a much improved football team this year, and the team will get better as the season progresses, not vice versa like what happened last year.

A note on tubbs: if he loses to Georgia and Bama this year, they will fire his ass and will lure petrino away from Atlanta.

That's a fair prediction. I think 7 or 8 wins is reasonable too considering the schedule. Tubbs was 3-2 vs Saban.... both won their games at home.

    Preseason Prognosticators - Week 9

In a few years it will probably be much the same, a pretty even series. Some Bama people act as if Auburn is going to fall off the face of the earth. That isn't going to happen. Tubberville has built a big time program over there on the plains and he isn't simply going to pack it in because Bama hired an excellent coach. In fact, this may just make him work even harder. This is going to be a battle between two very good coaches that will be fun to watch.
