Iím so glad his stubbornsss finally realized this team and a zone is a good thing. Itís a game changer for our season. Wish he had used it vs Oregon.

He used it for very specific reasons last night. SC was driving to the basket and drawing Mccowan over to help and passing behind her for easy layups against man. That happened about 8 times. The zone took that away. It was also a way to extend Howard a little because she was in foul trouble. She played the entire 4th with 4 fouls. So, I dont think you're suddenly going to see a lot of zone going forward.

This year's team doesnt have great foot speed and teams with athletic, fast guard play are going to give us problems. The zone is an adjustment to help with that.

Dawn Staley said after the game that they were not prepared to face State in a zone and it really gave them fits.

You can tell Vic has been working zone in practice and this was a good time to use it. Great coaching.

Correct. Youíd think Danberry and Holmes would be awesome on ball defenders but Oregon guards torched us w penetration and also the high screen and roll w Tís player is nullified because of the zone. Oregon kept her out of the paint all night and wore her out making her work all game. The zone allows her to stay in the paint where she needs to be.
