Have to admit I have never watched Game of Thrones

But I am shocked that a thread about it is up to 90 posts on a night an outstanding baseball game is on and also a day when it looks like another Ohio State QB is going into the transfer portal in Matt Baldwin.****

Never watched and have no desire too, either.

If youíd watch an episode or better yet, a season, you probably wouldnít be shocked anymore.

For anyone stoically digging their feet in to not watch it, I feel bad for yíall son

Yeah, that thread wasn't nearly as exciting as this one where everyone is telling us they have never watched the show.

I watched a few episodes and couldn't get into it. High fantasy usually isn't my thing.

Just curious as to how old those who have not watched it are? I never watched MASH, but it was passed my bedtime. Game of Thrones doesn't come on until what I presume is bedtime for some of you.***

Seriously, I would imagine that there is a sharp drop in viewers at age 50ish.

And there were at least four threads started about the umpires strikezone. Plus the GoT thread started Monday morning. Itís not like all of it was discussed last night.

Gave up dollar shave club and blue apron just so I could watch. Kind of cool now because my beard is 3í long like a Wilding. Looks like my beard is on roids. All thanks to HBO for making it happen.

51, never watched it. 2 main reasons: 1)I won't pay for HBO 2)From what little bit I have seen advertised, I'm totally not interested.
In the age of DVR the time isn't an issue like back in the days of MASH. So I more than likely wouldn't even set my DVR to record it. Just not my type of entertainment.
I've polished a seat in every SEC football stadium with my butt.

I was late to the party, didnít start watching until just before Season 7 started. Got caught up in time time to watch the second episode of Season 7 live. Hate I didnít watch the earlier seasons live because those were the best seasons to me, but at least I get to experience some of it while itís happening.

My dad had almost every episode of MASH recorded on VHS. Talk about DVR.

Fantasy, magic, and dragons isnít my deal at all but I checked it out due to hype after a few seasons had already aired. Freaking love it. Itís the best written show on tv since The Sopranos. Itís right up there with Sopranos and The Wire and has surpassed shows like Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire, and Walking Dead. Itís easily one of the best shows all-time.

I haven't seen a single episode myself. I'm not bragging about it. It seems like it's right up my alley. I will eventually watch it in some form at some point. I don't have cable let alone HBO.

You can get HBO Online now and watch it on the computer or download the HBO app if you have a TV that is connected to the internet or something like Apple TV or Roku.

A lot of people get turned off by the "magic, dragons, fantasy stuff" etc, but much like TWD, GoT is about the human interactions with those variables in play and how situations are handled.

I finally gave it a shot after about 4 seasons in so I could binge. I made it until early in the second season and decided it wasn't for me. This is an indictment on me, but with all the houses/characters/etc., I just found it too confusing. After the second episode, I'd watch an episode, then read Alan Sepinwall's recaps/reviews just to help. Though it was okóI guessódecided I didn't have time and it wasn't my bag.

Here's some reasons to watch in no particular order:
    -excellent script
-story lines that will pull you in
-the best character development of any show
-literally any main character could die at any time... no feeling of "oh the good guys will win"
    -boobs
    -violence
    -dragons
    -excellent acting
    -it's funny
    -it's got suspense
    -war .. people like war
    Hail State, Braves, Panthers, Liverpool

Eh... not into long running episodic melodramatic fiction. Never saw a Dragon in real life, although I hear if you go to ďReal CarnivaleĒ in Brazil during Mardi Gras or the Chinese New Year Celebrations in..... China. But I have never been to either of those so they may not be real dragons either.

Oh, and I am in the over 60 demographic.

Nice list. Boobs was the most compelling one to get me to watch, but I can see those for free here every hump day, or whenever was21 or babyatemydingo post.

    I only just started watching...

No reason other than that I didn't have HBO when it started. Wife and I started watching Veep on Prime when they had the first two seasons, then I found her a cell plan that gave us HBO so we could finish that. Then she just got back into her Shonda Rimes-a-thon every week, and the Grizzlies didn't always suck so bad so I watched them a lot of nights. By then it seemed like a huge effort to get into that many seasons and we assumed we already knew all of the holy shit moments because of social media.

Anyway, I was a huge LOTR fan so I figured the general subject matter would be cool, and she got peer pressure from co-workers to give it a try (she's definitely not into that whole type thing).

We just finished binging season 1 and are gonna try and time it up so we can just roll right into the finale. It's 17ing awesome.

Was just about to post something very similar. Saying that GoT is a magic/fantasy series is like calling Titanic an action/adventure about the largest ship on the planet roughing the wild waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Dragons and magic are part of the show, but they make up about 5% of the overall content. If itís not your bag, thatís cool, but it kills me to hear how many people donít watch it because they think itís one big wild fantasy. Thatís really not the heart of the show

That is pretty much the case with any movie or TV show. I will say if you want to ever know the ending to The Song of Fire and Ice then you probably need to watch. I don't know if GRRM is ever going to finish the books now that the show is stealing his thunder.

That’s actually exactly what it is... With good writing. Sopranos is a mob show with good writing. Breaking Bad is a show about cooking meth with good writing. Etc... HBO shows and their writing is what seperates. The same people who refuse to watch GOT because of the medieval magic angle probably love CSI or How To Get Away With Murder and those shows are terribly written and acted. Win me with writing and acting I can get in to about any subject matter. I don’t think it’s an accident the best shows are from HBO and AMC

Same here. I would like to watch a lot of stuff on HBO, but I don't want to pay for HBO. Maybe one day I will get it for a month and binge GoT, West World, Silicon Valley, etc...

So television? You don't like television as a storytelling medium.
