USC should have a major talent advantage over Utah. Whittingham is just a helluva coach. He has done a great job taking what Urban built and continuing success there in to the pac 12 conference from mountain west.

Iíve seen some fight from this USC team this year. Itís just not up to USC standard. Helton will have win the conference this year to stay. Doesnít look likely even though the conference is very weak.

USC gets Oergon at home, avoids Washington State. They hold on tonight and win next weekend they'll have a chance at the Pac 12.

They got some players. Chippy game tonight, both sides - but USC looks big and fast. If they have a QB upright they could win it.

USC has some talent and actually has a decent QB and WRs.

But they are still in the PAC-12.

True. Pac12 is just not a great conference lately.

Big test next weekend. Big game against Notre Dame after that.

Arizona is not a threat. I could see Arizona State winning. UCLA is hot garbage.

    Oregon will be a test.

USC boosters and fans can be a lot like bama fans though. Playoff or bust. A lot of usc alumni and fans I know are sick of being down snd tired of USC not being even close to getting in the playoff.

Too much history, talent, snd money not to be.

I can see them beating ND. Just hard to play that many conference game when even Utah is fielding a better team than usual.

It's not that they have SEC strength, it's just that they have so many decent teams that can beat you on a bad night.

Yeah ND isnít great. Whoíll be able to tell a lot about them tomorrow. USC is very deep talent wise. Helton isnít a terrible coach but just not what USC is used to to be at that elite level. PAC 12 had a bunch of teams that are decent to good but none really that are great to elite right now.

A good deal to unpack in your quote. With the exception of Oregon and Stanford for a couple of years, it hasnt been a good conference at all since USC won a few championships in the BCS and even then it was pretty weak as a conference. USC fans who are living for the playoff have more in common with ole miss fans longing for the late 50's and early 60's.

History doesnt do anything for you today. Talent does if you have a corner on the market in your area. Everyone, including Vandy and MSU and Utah have money now. It wont make much of a difference anymore.

It all boils down to coaching and smart recruiting (meaning which kids to NOT waste your time on).

The monsters of the midway in the late 70's are now in a museum. Nebraska, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Michigan. THat doent mean they cant be good. It just means their chances of being in the Playoff are just about the same as everyone else. Maybe a bit better due to the conference they play in being weak.

Funk came in and was a better QB. USC might have lost otherwise. Good game to watch but too many penalties.
