OT: I don't listen to any of todays music

A buddy of mine had it on a local pop station yesterday, and that's was some of the worst music I've ever listened to. Are there any good rock bands now a days?

Greta Van Fleet is good if you want some more Led Zepplin songs.

I hear ya, today's music is crap. I have Sirius in my truck and leave it on either Hair Nation or Ozzy's Boneyard. My kids hate it but there's only a couple of new songs out these days that I can stand

If you want some hope for the future of actual music with actual musicians who are actually talented and play actual instruments, Greta Van Fleet is a good starting point.

Good list, I'd add (on the spectrum of rock):

    Wilco
    Tool
    Arctic Monkeys
    Modest Mouse
    Built to Spill
    Spoon

All have had relatively recent offerings.

I'm in the minority, but I like Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo and think Wilco absolutely blows. I'm going to see Tool on Tuesday.

Grace Potter. Saw her live with The Nocturnals at Memphis in May in 2012. She's a hell of an artist

If you like Led Zeppelin, they put out at least half a dozen albums better than Greta Van Fleet. It's like a cover band that said, hey we can write more of this stuff. Plus the singer said he doesn't try to sound like Robert Plant... give me a break.

Being There is one of the all time greatest albums, but the catalog after that is overrated.

I've seen Grace now about 4 times. The first time ever was in Birmingham and I was maybe 5 feet from the stage. She KICKED ASS with that Flying V guitar and those killer legs. Then I saw her at Red Rocks as she opened for Tedeschi Trucks Band. She ABSOLUTELY stole the show that night. I felt bad for Derek and Susan having to follow her. She ended with a version of War Pigs that was bad ass.

Fast forward to just a few months ago, my wife and I saw her at Emeril Lagasse's Boudin, Bourbon and Beer fundraiser for his foundation and she played without the Nocturnals. Just Grace and it sucked. She played some of her new stuff now that she's a mom and it was too sappy. She said she's coming back to New Orleans soon with the full band.
