That's a great hire. He might suck but I sure as hell would take the chance if I were JSU.

I don't see anything in his resume that screams great hire. He's a high school assistant coach who just got outcoached by the MRA coaches. I like Deion and he's a hard worker, but I'm not at all sold on this hire. I hope it works out though. I would have called Jay Hopson.

    His name can only help.

He might have a few connections that would be beneficial.

I would assume he already has some guys that will go with him.

I definitely wouldnít call it a great hire, more like boom or bust, high risk/reward.

I reckon if youíre JSU, you donít really have much to lose.

Pat you are really wrong here.

This is good for JSU in a ton of ways. Even if he goes 0/20 and leaves after 2 seasons.

Hell its good for the state of Mississippi.

Now Iím glad itís JSU taking that chance vs MSU, it they have way less to lose.

The point of the football team is ultimately to make the university more money.

    Usually winning accomplishes that.

In JSUs case, they could make a lot more money and never win a game while Deion is there.

If he increases revenue for 2 to 3 years and just recruits decently, they could then hire a good football coach who could come in and win.

If he goes 2-10 every year, they wonít be making any more money with him as head coach than any other coach.

Iíll make a wager with you.

JSU athletic revenue will increase by 15% annualized over the next 2 years. Regardless of wins and losses.

If he accomplishes that and loses and they hire a real coach in year 3, it will be a huge success.

If it happens that way, I would agree it was a success.

Iím not saying it will or wonít work. Just saying itís far from a sure thing in any aspect.

Iím guessing their revenue is less than $10 million yearly.

If they get 15,000 fans to donate $100 more, they hit 15% in year one.

Iím hoping, if the AD is good enough to pull ďprime timeĒ, he is smart enough to capitalize on him.

Hell im guessing ESPN, etc will want to showcase some of those games Bc of of Deion.

15k fans? Does the bulldog club even have 15k members?

The bulldog club sells 35,000 season tickets.

If you can increase season tickets for 15,000 fans by $100 each thatís one way.

You can also attract a lot of African American single game fans ďto seeĒ Deion coach.

You can also attract TV Bc of Deion.

    WANNA WAGER?

Less than 15% isnít a fail for JSU either but 15% isnít out of the realm of possibility.

15% over 2 years vs 15% annually is still pretty damn good.

Lol... no I donít want to wager. I have no knowledge of JSUís ability to increase revenue. I was simply questioning the ability to get $100 from 15k people. I really donít know that there are 15k members in the bulldog club, and the 35k season tickets is not a good measure of that. I order 4 and Iím the only member of my house on the bulldog club.

I hope he does increase revenue. Hope it works out to be awesome.

There arenít 15k members in the BDC (unless it has grown). But they sell 35,000 season tickets.

All it is a big publicity stunt. After the first 4 losses it will be the same old same old. They could make a bigger revenue splash selling bbq in the parking lot instead of all those dude dragging their grills in

Maybe Deion gets the JSU - Deion licensing rights.

(I was going to sarcastrisk that but then that might not be a bad idea there)

    Some facts for the argument

JSU's athletic budget for the last fiscal year was $7.6 million, which ranked seventh in the 10-team SWAC and 337th out of 347 schools in the NCAA's top division
Pain suggests the athletic budget in 2020-2021 will grow to $8.7 million, and 2021-2022 will grow to $10.1 million.

    Enrollment at JSU is 9,800.

JSU leads FCS in attendance at 33,000 per game (reserved season tickets are $160)

You just outlined what's been causing the problems in modern college football. At the end of the day, it's more about us vs. them (winning) than it is money. Money goes along with that but money isn't the sole factor.

It's about pride. That's what makes college football great. It stands alone from pro football in that regard. All you people saying it's a business and should be treated that way, simply DO NOT GET IT. It's more than that.
