OT: For you Tyler Childers fans out there

He randomly dropped a new album today. Just saw it on Spotify. Can’t wait to give it a listen later on

Saving Country Music posted about that earlier this morning. I've got it pulled up on YouTube.

Link to YouTube search for album cuts: Here.

Believe it is instrumental the whole way through.

He is great. Blows Isbell and Stapleton out of the water as a songwriter and performer.

It is but it's fine music. I just finished it here at the office and can't wait to listen to it again after a few drinks tonight.

He is outstanding. But I won't go so far as to say he's better than them as a songwriter yet.

Wow. Tyler coming out strong with a very thought provoking song. He might lose some fans but I bet he gains more than he loses.

Childers is good, but he’s not close to Isbell in terms of song writing. “Ever Lovin Hand” is about jerking off in a hotel room. Are you really putting that up against “If We Were Vampires”, “Cover Me Up” etc.?

I agree Isbell is a better songwriter you are competing ever loving hand to those two? If you want to make it comparable at least try super 8 motel or something good along those lines. Childers also has some damn good songs that will stand up to some of Isbell’s best.

Jason is outstanding. Probably my all around favorite talent these days. I'm still pissed that the rona canceled the Sturgill Simpson / Tyler Childers show I had great tickets for.

I am too. General Admission Floor at Southaven. That was probably my best chance to get close to Sturgill.

Tell me about it I had first row past the GA section on the floor. It was a pain in the ass to get those tickets thru ticketmaster.

I'm not sure how much longer that guy is going to tour. I can just see him hanging it up and disappearing with no notice. I'm looking forward to the bluegrass album he's finishing up.

Isbell is a prick and made some disparaging comments about Justin Townes Earle recently, who also, has written a handful of songs better than anything Isbell has put out.

I found this surprising so I tried to find what you're talking about, but everything I can find is about their friendship and respect for each other. What did Isbell say?

Not only that but those guys have 12/13 years on Childers. It will be interesting to see Childers’ body of work at 40.

I'm only aware of the interview where JTE was upset at Jason Isbell for hiring JTE's ex-girlfriend...

Both great talents. Wouldn't surprise me if there were a little rivalry there though...

Stapleton was lot better before he hit mainstream. Something about hitting mainstream usually screws up really good writers and musicmakers. I guess it's the record label company and producers telling them what to do. Stapleton loss some of his roots and went a little more pop. His bluesy, southern rock, blue grass roots is what made him so good.

Childers is really good. Isabell, i've never been a major fan of his.

Tyler is definitely a better performer than Isabell. I will leave the song writing up for debate, but I would lean towards Tyler there also.

Who is better is an individual decision and there is no wrong answer.

I just cant stop listening to that new song. Talk about some amazing lyrics

It's the worst that it's been since the last time it happened
It's happening again right in front of our eyes
    There's updated footage, wild speculation
Tall tales and hearsay and absolute lies

Been passed off as factual when actually, the actual
Causes they're awkwardly blockin' the way
Keeping us all from enjoyin' our evening
Shoving its roots through the screens in our face

Now, what would you give if you heard my opinion
Conjecturin' on matters that I ain't never dreamed
In all my born days as a white boy from Hickman
Based on the way that the world's been to mе?

It's called me belligеrent, it's took me for ignorant
But it ain't never once made me scared just to be
Could you imagine just constantly worryin'
Kickin' and fightin', beggin' to breathe?

How many boys could they haul off this mountain
Shoot full of holes, cuffed and laid in the streets
Til we come in to town in a stark ravin' anger
Looking for answers and armed to the teeth?

Thirty aught sixes, Papaw's old pistol
How many, you reckon, would it be, four or five?
Oh, would that be the start of a long, violent history
Tuckin' our tails as we try to abide?

Tyler is going to have a long successful career as long as he doesn't get cancelled for his political opinions.

Tyler released a video on the new album. Basically says his goal was to get rural white America to listen to the problems of the black communities. His “what if we were reading headlines that said man shot fishing with his son” lines are somewhat powerful.

He’ll probably lose some fans over it. Which is unfortunate, but guess that’s the world we live in:

ETA: I agreed wholeheartedly with much of what he said, especially the very end.

This isn’t true. Tyler is good but he wines a lot on stage.
He can’t hold Isbell or Stapletons jock strap.

i feel like Stapleton was more genuine in his bluegrass days. I just think he liking the bigger paychecks now and does whatever the producer and label says to stay on the radio. although his earlier stuff is what got him noticed.

It's about mortality and the value that gives to life during the short time we are here on earth. Nothing more real life than that.

Wasn't really expecting anybody to take that comment seriously, but even so, I'm not sure everybody on sixpack has really contemplated mortality and the value of life but I'm pretty sure everybody on sixpack can relate to the subject of "ever lovin hand", so I still think that's more relevant music.**

They’re musicians.. I don’t expect them to be smart.

How could I take someone’s political views seriously when they are constantly high?
