Would you welcome back Buryball 2.0?

This should be Howland’s last year. Would you welcome back Bury?

Hell yes. Just about all of our men’s basketball success, other than the late 50s and early 60s, has come when Rick Stansbury was on staff. It has been nine years since he was fired and we still haven’t come close to the success we had when he was here. If Howland leaves, or is fired, we could do a hell of a lot worse than Stansbury.

If we're going to replace Howland I would rather find a younger guy with extensive assistant coaching experience or having served as a head coach in a smaller school with some success, but I think we'd have to change our athletic director to do that. He seems to prefer old coaches and I mean old in age.

He wouldn’t take it. No coach wants to coach a team where his son will sit the bench for 3 more years.****

How is this a serious question? We haven't been to a Sweet Sixteen in 23 years! The answer is no and as Saban says "so quit asking".

    Not as head basketball coach.

Depending on the position, I wouldn’t mind him returning in a role at the university though.

No, Howland is better than late Stansbury.

No. He's not even doing anything at WKY. He lost control of the program. We can make the NIT most years without him.

No. The second time around with a former coach is almost never as good as the first.

    A rejuvinated Stans, yes

but he got complaincent later in his stay here. things got out of control.

Seems he lost contact/communications with many of the players.

Recruiting seemed centered around certain Academy programs. (the easy way out)

Crap, took his kids on vacation, in California, during a tournament trip.

Hate to be a task master, but you do things like that, when all things are going well.

So, not likely. I think he was burned out.
Jack may be gone, but he is "EVER PRESENT"

yeah, he does. And at the same time, he claims that he is planning for the future.

Does anyone have any info of Stans showing up in Vegas (the REAL Vegas) gambling while he was at MSU a few times? I heard that from a strong Dawg contact many yrs ago but never heard it “on the street”.

At this point I’d be open to taking Meo back.
“I’m not going to take anything off the table at this point in time ... but I will tell you this,” Cohen began, “this person is going to have serious baseball experience as a head coach. This person is going to have made trips to Omaha, Nebraska. This person is going to have expertise in an area of the game and in all facets of the game. And this person is going to make our fan base very happy.” - Intense Bastard, April 5, 2018.

The guy should have never been fired in the first place. We are way passed that point though, and trading Howland for Stansbury would give you about the same results. It would be a total feel good move, because Stansbury had a ton of success here. That’s the only real benefit if you can call that a benefit. Look I don’t think it would necessarily turn out bad, but I don’t see the point in re hiring him. It’s certainly not a no brainer hire or anything like that. If you are going to fire Howland, we need to go after a young energetic coach. First Cohen need to go. I have no confidence he will find the right guy for our program. He has been a pretty terrible AD.

We need to just hire a WBB coach. Then we might at least be good at fundamentals.

I never understood why he was fired to begin with... and for Rick Ray at that! He did seem to be losing interest and control towards the end but some of that seemed correctable.

Some new blood might serve the program better at this point, so its worth looking around. Im not so sure Stans comes back in and parties like its 2003. The momentum of that era died when Rick Ray walked into the Hump. Dont know what you got til its gone, right

It may just be nostalgia on my part, but after watching the Ray and Howland years, Id welcome him back.
