We're down 4-0 to Virginia baseball in the 8th...

If we lose this game our chances of being the 2021 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS of College Baseball goes down.

I posted a while back that I grabbed a compete stranger, albeit a Bulldog, and bear hugged the 17 out of him. He had zero 17s to give about it, either.

That first week of Omaha was epic.... the K-feat against the Steers and then the comeback vs VA.

Some fans by us got up and left when it sprinkled. We thought they’d left the game. Afterwards we saw them and one of them said, “We stood on the concourse and watched the comeback, afraid to sit back down because we were finally hitting.” Unsung heroes, thank you for your sacrifice.

I didn't realize that Dubrule's walk to start it all was 0-2 to start off. Not to mention ball 4 just barely missed being a strike.

One thing I noticed is that this crew wasn't anal about the 20 second thing like in the Vandy series.

Maybe the most important at-bat in the whole thing. That kid isn’t talked about enough for what he contributed down the stretch.

There are some here who felt he wasn’t good enough. Dubrule was one of the few players you could assume would get on base. Did he have the long ball? No, but he did what it takes to get on base consistently.

The guy had a no-no into the 8th before Clark roped that first pitch. Then Dawg nation rattles on of the best bullpens in the country.

And, yes, Scotty's amazing, all balls, at bat was the key to the inning.

It’s crazy, I watched every second of that at midnight a month after the fact and I was on the edge of my seat still.

I never realized we were getting out-hit so badly.

    10-0 at that point.

Gotta give the ump some credit too for not getting caught up in the excitement of the no-no and ringing Scotty up on the 2-2.

Pretty sure he could have scored easily and Rowdey would have had a stand up triple. But TA's bomb made it all a moot point, thankfully. I have to admit I gave up watching after we went down 4-0, but was tracking the game online and saw that we had made the huge comeback in the 8th. I was not about to start watching then, didn't want to jinx the comeback, lol.

Hatcher had to slow up because of how close it was to a catch.

He was coming from 1st, with less than 2 outs, so he wasn't going full speed until he was rounding 2nd in case he had to turn back Full speed the whole way, sure he makes it home, but in that moment, he would have been thrown out.

Only State fans could win a National Championship and still be griping about coaching decisions.

You are probably right. Sure seems like he took a lot of criticism at the time though from our fans for not scoring. Again, not that it mattered.

I’m not sure if this link works but here was my view of the Rowdy/Hatcher base running. I believe Hatcher was toast.

Yes, and Cheese put the brakes on Hatcher rightfully, albeit late. You can see it at 17:00 of the video in the OP. I don’t see where Hatcher was at fault other than being much slower than Jordan; of course, Hatcher had to wait on the possible catch while Rowdey was running hard out of the box.

That's precisely what got into McGarry's head and got him upset, that one pitch not called strike got to him and he couldn't really cool off after that. Up until walking Debrule, in his mind, was invincible.

And that is when we started the rally, on that ball 4 count that Debrule got after spoiling a few strikes. The little bit of momentum we needed just getting the lead off runner on.

    Wild to think about.

No doubt. As much as they meant none of the three games of the championship series came close to any nail biting moments. All of the drama occurred in the the two wins against UVA and then UT
